When we did the video call, it was short but she communicated with me with the help of using a translator on something like a phone. It was hard for her to understand me so I spoke slowly and mainly used conversational English like "you look lovely." She would blow to me kisses every time I said that. I typed a lot of what I said so she could understand what I was saying.
"I live with my son and my mother in small town Antratsit in the east of Ukraine, since 2014 year our life is not easy, as the war is in progress here. All my life I work as a kindergarten teacher and I never regret that I have chosen this profession.\" We did video chat on skype once. In her last email to me, she said she was able to get a departure to the United States on September 30 and that she bought the ticket on August 10. She said she had to travel to Kiev to be able to get tickets.
