Selfie photo allegedly used under the name Sofiia Tkachenko in UkraineDate scam report

First and last name: Sofiia Tkachenko

Scam scheme:

This profile is based on a detailed victim report and submitted materials connected to the name Sofiia Tkachenko. The case includes a dating-site contact, WhatsApp communication, a submitted Ukrainian passport image, PayPal details, a bank card number, personal photos, videos, and a money request connected to a travel suitcase.

The reported scheme started on UkraineDate, then quickly moved to WhatsApp. The woman introduced herself as “Sofi” and used personalized photos and videos to make the communication feel real. According to the victim, she said his name in videos and referred to details from their written conversations, which made the profile appear more convincing than a simple photo-based fake account.

The first major warning sign was the identity story. The dating profile showed one city, while in WhatsApp she claimed to live in another city. When questioned about this inconsistency, she allegedly explained that a friend had helped create the profile. She also refused to provide a real address for flowers, but was comfortable sending PayPal information instead.

The money request developed in a soft, indirect way. The victim initially wanted to send a gift. After receiving some money, she allegedly said she wanted to buy a suitcase for their future meeting, but needed an additional amount. When the victim offered to contact the store and pay directly, she claimed this was not possible because the store had no card terminal. This created a controlled situation where the victim was pushed toward sending money directly instead of verifying the purchase.

The submitted passport image was later assessed as fake. The document reportedly contained multiple inconsistencies, including mismatched text angles, problems in the machine-readable zone, an invalid authority code, missing or incorrect watermarks, and data that did not match official checks. The passport image appears to have been used as a trust-building tool rather than reliable proof of identity.

Additional checks also raised questions about the real location of the person using the materials. Some images appeared to be connected to Slovenia, including one location identified as a restaurant in Ljubljana. This conflicted with the story that the woman was living in Donetsk. The use of PayPal was also suspicious in this context, because receiving money through PayPal was not a normal option for Ukrainian residents at that time.

This case should be treated carefully from a legal standpoint. A later contact claimed that her personal photo had been used on a dating site without her involvement. For that reason, the safest conclusion is that the identity materials and profile using the name Sofiia Tkachenko were involved in a high-risk dating scam scenario. The person shown in the photos may not necessarily be the person who operated the profile.

If a woman you met online sends a passport, refuses to provide a verifiable address, asks for money through PayPal or a card, and explains inconsistencies with stories about friends, travel, or location, do not send more money. Order a Ukrainian passport check or a full verification of a Ukrainian woman before trusting the story.
