Scheme fraud: I met a lady calling herself Liza through the website seeking.com a few weeks ago. She spoke fluent English and was happy to phone call or video call, which we began doing on a regular basis. She was always available to call and responsive and easy to reach, I initially had no suspicions that this would be a scam because she had no problems seeing each other face to face via Whatsapp video etc. We spoke regularly and she told me that she was living in Kyiv, an only child with no brothers or sisters. Her father had died during the war and her mother lived in a village a couple of hours away from the City. She wanted to arrange for us to meet in Poland and then travel to the UK together, and this is when she started asking for money. She said she needed to pay for a passport and travel insurance, and that she would go to the immigration office to do this. After allegedly visiting the immigration service, she said the total cost of her passport and insurance would be £700 and that I should transfer the money to her via remitly, giving me the following account details
I have a feeling that this scammer has been very prolific and that there may be dozens of other victims - I urge anyone else with information to come forward so that she can be apprehended as quickly as possible.
